About the program

The Englishtown Fire Department Junior Program is an educational, hands-on opportunity for young individuals ages 16 to 18 who are interested in exploring careers in firefighting, emergency services, or public safety. Participants gain firsthand experience in fire department operations, learn basic firefighting techniques, and develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and responsibility.

Training & Activities

Junior firefighters engage in a variety of training exercises that simulate real-life emergency scenarios. They assist during non-hazardous incidents and support the department at community events. The program prioritizes safety while providing meaningful experiences to prepare participants for potential careers in fire and emergency services.

Personal and Community Development

In addition to technical skills, the program emphasizes personal growth and community involvement. Juniors learn discipline, service, and professionalism, while positively contributing to their community. The program fosters confidence, enhances communication skills, and builds a strong sense of civic duty. For many, the Junior Program is a stepping stone to becoming a volunteer or professional firefighter in the future.
